FNV maakt zich zorgen om omroepplannen Slob'
Minister Slob's future plan does not make public broadcasting future-proof and creates more uncertainty about programs and among the makers, according to the FNV. The FNV expects that the new plans will create a 'budgetary stranglehold' and that the independence of broadcasters and makers will increasingly be compromised. Martin Kothman, director of FNV: 'We are watching the political development surrounding public broadcasting with suspicion. Throughout Europe and now also in the Netherlands, political parties and populist party political positions are gaining increasing influence on the media in general and public broadcasters in particular. This future plan by Minister Slob does not provide sufficient counterbalance to this, but with additional cutbacks as a means, it offers the opportunity to increasingly marginalize public broadcasting.'
