In Love with Cuba has already attracted 100,000 visitors to the cinema in just a few days. That is why director Johan Nijenhuis and a number of actors, including leading actors Jan Kooijman, Susan Visser and Abbey Hoes, were surprised at home and at work with the Golden Film award. The Golden Film, Platinum Film and Diamond Film are awarded by the Dutch Film Festival and the Dutch Film Fund if a Dutch film manages to sell 100,000, 400,000 or 1,000,000 cinema tickets. At the end of December, nature documentary 'WAD, surviving on the border between water and land' was the last to receive a Golden Film.
