Kinepolis neemt alle Wolff-bioscopen over'
The Belgian cinema company Kinepolis has long harbored the desire to expand northwards. The construction drawings for a megaplex have now been approved and are ready to be executed. But with the takeover of the Wolff group, which was completed yesterday, Kinepolis is instantly on the Dutch cinema map. The Belgians will take over all nine cinemas that Wolff operates in Huizen, Groningen, Rotterdam, Nieuwegein, Utrecht and Enschede. The total number of theaters is 46. Twenty more will be added in the near future as Kinepolis also takes over the new construction projects in Utrecht - a megaplex next to the Jaarbeurs - and Dordrecht. Wolff's activities as a film programmer and purchasing center for 28 independent cinemas are also part of the takeover deal.
