The Frisian Film Archive has discovered a special version of Detained, a solo film by British actor Stan Laurel from 1924, in its collection. It contains scenes with special effects that were until now considered lost. Laurel, better known as the thin one of the comedy duo Laurel and Hardy, ends up as a prisoner on the gallows in one of the lost film fragments. "His neck is stretched disproportionately, which then leads to a comic escape," the Fries Film Archive said.
