Rick Paul van Mulligen is sometimes asked whether he "doesn't even want to play gay". He resists that surprise. "A character's heterosexuality is never mentioned. Homosexuality always," says the 36-year-old actor in an interview with NRC. He is known for roles in the series A'dam - EVA and the hospital series Charlie. Van Mulligen struggled with the question. "And I got irritated. Why can't I do that myself? I'm gay and I would always like to play gay characters."
